Web Designer Vs Web Developer.

We usually think that both web designing and web development are same but the fact is that they both are totally different.
  • Web Designing is all about where web designers transform an idea, or story , into a visually beautiful and creative design and use the layout to build the user experience throughout the whole website.
  • They play an important role in designing the website's look and feel. It is similar to that of an architect who would create a plan of house before building it.
  • Similarly a web designer would create and design a model the layout of the website before a web developer can start building or developing a website.
Usually web Designers have a very challenging role as they need to create the best user experience and create a welcoming environment for the user.
Web Designing is all about changing an idea from writing, into a usable design and interface that catches the user's attention.
Web Designing involves the usage of the software tools such as
  1. Adobe Photoshop.
  2. Illustrator or Sketch
to build the final layout design of the website.
Main role of Web Designer:
  • They should posses good skills in Graphic Design and logo Design.
  • They should have a good knowledge regarding user experience, to identify the simplest approach possible to attain the desired function which includes the layout, buttons, images and the general format of the website.
  • Web Designers need to keep themselves up to date with the latest design trends.
They should also keep in mind the branding of the website, colour palettes to be used and the typography and readability of the website.
Web Development:
  • Web Development is the building and maintenance of the websites, its the work that happens behind the scenes to make a website look great.
  • Web Developers uses web languages and software tools to develop the design and functionality of a website.
They further divided into two sub categories that is
1) Front-End Developers.
2) Back-End Developers.
Front-End Developers:
It is the practice of converting data to graphical interface for user to view and interact with data through digital interaction
They mainly uses 3 languages.
  1. HTML.
  2. CSS.
  3. JavaScript.
By use of this languages we can able to create a full-fledged website.
From the main design layout, to inserting images, applying different types of typography and fonts.
Back-End Developers:
The server, the Database, and the server-side applications are all part of Back-End technology and programming.
Usually a website requires Back-End services if it contains Dynamic data.
They use languages such as
  1. PHP or ASP
  2. SQL or MySQL.
Main roles of a Web Developer:
  • Developing and creating the actual interface through which a user interacts with the website and it is done by Front-End Developers and can use preprocessors, javascript libraries and frameworks to fasten the process of development.
  • They provide the markup design to back-end developers where they can implement a dynamic website and submit all the required data on the server and databases.
